Grasslanz Technology statutory board

Ian Boddy - Chairman
Ian Boddy is responsible for all AgResearch’s commercial activities including intellectual property (IP) management and commercialisation. He has a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Auckland, was a Research Fellow at Cambridge and a Senior Research Leader with a large German agrichemicals company. He has been with AgResearch since 1994 and was General Manager for IP with Celentis, the former commercial arm of AgResearch. He then became the General Manager for the newly formed Commercial Group in 2004. He has worked with Grasslanz Technologies Ltd and its predecessors for many years and has been Chairman since July 2006.

Dr Jimmy Suttie - Company Director
Dr Jimmy Suttie has been General Manager of AgResearch’s Applied Biotechnologies Group since 2004. He manages about 300 staff whose job it is to develop and enhance plant and animal genomes to keep the New Zealand pastoral sector internationally competitive, and to develop new livestock, plant products and technologies - some with human health applications. Since moving from Scotland to New Zealand in 1981, Jimmy’s work has mainly focused on antler growth, deer velvet as a product and deer growth physiology. In 2003 he was awarded the New Zealand Deer Industry Award for his personal commitment to the industry and the contribution he has made to the development of knowledge about the properties of velvet as a natural health product.

Bob Mather - Advisor to the Board
Mr Mather, as General Manager of Zuelzer (Australasia) Ltd, brings a high level of business acumen to the Grasslanz® Board. Zuelzer is a US-based broker of pasture and turf seeds. Prior to Zuelzer, Bob was General Manager of the Wrightson’s Seed Group. He has an international network of contacts in the seed industry. His seed business experience and well developed networks will be valuable in determining the company’s strategic direction.
